Old Production Notes

Hello and welcome to Production Notes. My name is Anastasia and my role at INdTV is to rally as much video from creative people like you as possible to help us achieve our goal of democratizing television. So if you have a camera (or can borrow one) and a story to tell, we want to hear from you. Over the next few months we plan to use this space to share ideas, encouragement and resources to help you along the way. We’ll also answer some of your questions about the process and highlight submissions we think embody some of the qualities we’re looking for. Check back often because your submission might debut here.

Meet Andy Price
Meet Andy Price. Andy was so inspired by the vision behind INdTV, he created a cool promo for us back in November. We liked it so much, we commissioned another one for the Pilot Project. Check it out in this week’s Video Showcase.

We also did the following short email interview with Andy…

What got you excited about INdTV?

It goes without saying that much of what’s on TV underestimates the intelligence and range of interests that us 18-30 year olds have. My demographic participates in TV programming the way a bear participates in rifle hunting. We’re a big bull’s eye in the sights of the programming executives. INdTV’s going to let us do the shooting. With cameras, that is. It’s a confusing metaphor.

How did you come up with the idea for the promo?

I don’t really know. That’s what’s interesting about creative endeavors in general. There aren’t step-by-step instructions. I guess watching TV I often feel like a kid in the back of the classroom who really disagrees with what’s being taught. That and the “pilot” pun were the first kernels of the promo.
